Canada Place North Point Renewal
This project showcases the technical expertise of our architectural team and involves a multi-phase replacement of hard and soft landscaping, waterproofing upgrades, and modifications to Canada Place. Phases include the North Point promenade (16K level), a 35,000 sq. ft. public plaza with failing hard landscaping, and the 30K level plaza with outdoor restaurant seating. Current work focuses on the 24K level east deck. Over the years, we have addressed technical issues, including leaking membranes from original construction. We proposed the innovative Romex system for installing marble tiles, solving the frost heave/jacking problem that caused tripping hazards. This approach, pioneered by our team at Canada Place, has since been adopted as a standard by the Port Authority. The Romex system allowed us to complete the project during the winter off-season without disrupting cruise ship season.
