BC Hydro - Maple Ridge Operations Facility
Omicron has been engaged by BC Hydro to provide programming, architecture, interior design, engineering and construction management services for the renewal of its inventory of 100 field offices throughout BC. These field facilities feature regional offices, vehicle bays, an operations yard. The BC Hydro Field Operations Facility program is a multi-year integrated design and construction effort which takes us across the province.
The Maple Ridge operations facility involves the design and construction of a new 22,500 sq.ft. building providing new facilities for staff. Located in an industrial sub-division on the edge of Golden Ears Provincial Park, the site is characterized by mature, second growth forest and adjacent fish-bearing streams. Sensitive siting and management of storm water were key project criteria in the (re)development of this site. The character of the building builds on the architectural language of our earlier BC Hydro projects and the emphasis on wood structure and cladding allows the building to fit comfortably into its forested surroundings.
