BC Hydro - GMS Visitor Centre

Omicron provided construction services for the complete renovation of the existing GMS Visitors Centre in Hudson Hope, BC. The building features a heavy timber roof structure and an angled curtain wall that highlights the display area and overlooks the Bennett Dam and Williston Reservoir. The building envelope and mechanical systems incorporated LEED Silver equivalency into the design. Additionally, an intricate level of coordination was required with a specialty consultant and contractor to weave some spectacular exhibits into the building and landscape.

The remote nature of the site, frigid temperatures, existing conditions, and aggressive schedule presented challenges, however, the final product should serve as a landmark in the region for years to come.
