Canada Place is once again bringing holiday magic to the heart of Vancouver with their Christmas at Canada Place festival. Along with the beloved Woodward’s windows displays and visits from Santa Claus, local companies and organizations were invited to sponsor and decorate their own Christmas tree which would then be displayed throughout the holidays.
Omicron was very excited to participate in the tree decorating with our theme of “Yule for School”. In the spirit of the season, we decided to use our decorating dollars to purchase school supplies for the YWCA’s Crab Tree Corner instead of purchasing traditional Christmas decorations for our display. Pencils, rulers, crayons and scissors made unique decorations to hang from the tree, a skirt was fashioned from pencil cases and binders and backpacks were tucked under the tree!
Christmas at Canada Place is a festive annual event with proceeds going to support charitable organizations in the Lower Mainland including the "Food Security for Children" program at the Strathcona Community Centre. This crucial program ensures kids on the downtown eastside are fed year-round in a safe, protective and caring environment.
