Key team members of the Stratford Hall School Lower School project proudly watched today as the Primary Years Program students made the symbolic trek from their existing leased premises on Commercial Drive to the new Stratford Hall School Lower School recently completed by Omicron.
The ceremony included Taiko drummers welcoming the children at the new school entrance. The stormy fall weather did not put a damper on what was otherwise a very happy and exciting event. It is rewarding to see this project complete, successful and fulfilling its purpose - full of happy children!
Omicron was engaged to manage the expansion of the existing Stratford Hall International Baccalaureate private school. The vision for Stratford Hall is to create a world-class campus style urban school. Omicron provided master planning, development options analysis, site acquisitions advice prior to designing and building the new 20,000 sq.ft. Lower School. We continue to work with the school to realize the new 30,000 sq.ft. Middle School component of the Stratford Hall campus.
Following the guiding principles of the school leaders, Omicron celebrates the school’s desire to create a sense of enquiry. The campus and buildings are expressive of place and function in a poetic, open narrative that allows students to learn from their surroundings about habitat and its relationship to environment and society. Built along the Commercial Drive corridor, a respect for the urban vitality and sensitivity to the neighbourhood context has been developed in the design at both a conceptual and formal level.
