November 6, 2007
Omicron staff recently joined together to raise funds for the United Way of the Lower Mainland. Surpassing all expectations, the team effort resulted in an $18,768 contribution to the prominent social services fund. The final results were extremely positive with a 20% increase in staff participation and a total donation increase of 17% over the 2006 campaign.
The 2007 Omicron United Way campaign began on October 23 and wrapped up on November 2 with much fanfare. From bake sales to silent auctions, email bingo to pledge drives - Omicronians donated their last dollar to make the United Way campaign a success. The silent auction led to a bidding war for the famous Sawatzky carrot cake. A whopping $170 donation for the delicious baked good was a very good example of healthy competition for a good cause. During the final wrap-up party, Eric Norman was the lucky Principal to be chosen, by way of donations, to dance around in the United Way mascot suit.
Thank you to all eager contributors and volunteers who helped make the campaign a tremendous success!
Money raised during the campaign will be invested in various charity organizations and critical social services. Please visit www.uwlm.ca for more information.
