Omicron, along with seven other local design/architectural teams, was recently invited to participate in an initiative called Epidemic or Opportunity: Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) Designs. This initiative involved designing and building a consumer facing or architectural application with supplied MPB wood. The eight projects were then displayed at the recent Design Vancouver Interior Design expo.
Omicron’s integrated team, consisting of Kevin Hanvey, MAIBC, Ray Loop and their carpentry specialists, did a fantastic job of designing and building a unique coffee table for our entry. The design of the table was chosen to highlight the blue patterning on the top edge of each wood piece. When placed together, the lengths create an organic expression of motion with convex and concave shapes.
The projects were displayed at the AIBC Architecture Centre Gallery which ran from June 7 to July 6, 2007.
